21. Goin' Home
Antonin Dvořák (1841-1904) / William Arms Fisher (1861-1948)
Arranged by Cantabile
Goodbye song. Music from the 9th Symphony From the New World. One of the most glorious melodies ever created - is it a Czech tune or a
negro spiritual, or simply Dvořák? Who knows? And whether it calls to mind Bohemia, the Deep South or a village in the North of
England, it has that special, goose-bump-creating power.
William Arms Fisher created a stunning spiritualesque piece when he added words to the melody with piano; we have integrated his work back into the
Dvořák score, with Malcolm providing an excellent 'orchestral' accompaniment.
